When I was contacted to be included in surprising Karen of Baking In A Tornado with her very own online Advent Calendar I didn't hesitate to say yes.
Karen never had an Advent Calendar growing up. She never got to experience the fun and anticipation of counting down the days until Christmas. So, we are making her this digital version. Every day a different blogger makes a new "window" for her to open.
The best part? She doesn't have to gobble down that horrible fake chocolate square every day. (Full disclosure: I LOVED that horrible waxy chocolate square. My sister and I would fight over it.) But, enough about me. Who is Karen?
Karen is a blogger with a heart of gold. She is the mastermind behind the monthly Secret Subject Swap and Fly On The Wall challenges. I stumbled across her blog over last summer and quietly read her posts and followed her on Facebook. One evening I saw her ask if anyone was interested in signing up to be a part of a swap or fly post. I was intrigued but didn't feel like I was "worthy" to join these amazing bloggers. A month went by and I finally gathered up the nerve to contact her. Even though I was a blogging "nobody" she gave me a chance. Without hesitation she allowed me in.
I am on my second month of participating. Karen's creativity and endless support have helped me to be a more confident and well rounded writer. I am more than happy to pay her back with this tiny little tribute.
Thank you, Karen. Thank you for believing in me when I wasn't even sure if I did. Thank you for leading by example, thank you for your kindness and generosity. Most of all, thank you for being you.
Merry Christmas my friend!
*If anyone has read her blog you know that Karen always adds a delicious sounding recipe on the end of her posts. The photos are mouth watering. I get inspired to bake more every time I see her creations. Especially this one. So, in honor of Karen, I have included my very fancy, very complex Peppermint Mocha recipe.
Michelle's Mediocre Minty Mocha

That sounds SOOOOO amazing.........
ReplyDeleteIt is super dee-lish and ridiculously easy. And as a bonus you get a double sized cup of mocha from combining the hot cocoa and coffee!
DeleteFirst of all, YUM. I will make that today, you can count on it. And I'll probably have to make the boys one too once they see what I'm doing.
ReplyDeleteSecond, you give me way too much credit. You can write. Period. Your writing is all you. Your initial insecurity, well, I don't know where that came from but there was no reason for it. I'm honored to have you and every other participant in the Swap, the Fly and Words. We all use the exercise to push our writing and use the challenges to create community. I'm glad you decided to join in. And I'm very glad to have "met" you.
Thank you for this amazing day on my calendar! I can't express how much I appreciate it.
Thank YOU.
