Fly On The Wall
Have you ever thought about what people might think if they saw what goes on behind-the-scenes at your house? Do you ever wonder what it would be like to catch a glimpse of someone’s daily life? Here’s your chance. Today 15 bloggers are inviting you into their homes to be a fly on the wall.
While you are at it, buzz around a few other blogs and see what happens at their houses:
Come on in for a landing, any wall will do. Here we go!

Watching movies is our family's favorite pastime. When in doubt, watch a movie. My husband and I have been excited to pass this love onto our daughter.
She has just recently started to sit through entire DVDs. We have excitedly been going through our movie collection and sharing the age-appropriate videos with her. Just the other night The Hubs grabbed our DVD copy of A Bug's Life and put it into the Blu-Ray player.
"It isn't Hi-Def," he said to our daughter, "but that is ok."
"Yeah, it is lo-def. I forgot," our three year old replied.
"Yup. Totally lo-def," The Hubs said, stifling his giggles.

The Hubs: We are going to brush your teeth, use the potty, wash your face, get your jammies on, it's gonna be crunk!"
Kiddo: I not a lazy butt!!
Hubs: What? I said crunk, not lazy butt....
Kiddo: Lazy butt.....
Hubs: Cruuuuunnnkkkk....
Kiddo: Laaaazzzyyyy buuutttttt.....
Hubs: Crunk. Let's go to bed.
*Sometimes I feel like a fly on the wall of Crazytown......

I admit, I enjoy hiding Twinkle, our Elf On The Shelf, every night. I try to make it places that my daughter will find her easily but won't be tempted to touch her. She has a small hand drum that she likes to flip upside down and use in her play kitchen area to hold ingredients. A mixing drum of sorts. It seemed like the perfect place for Twinkle to duck into and hide.
The kiddo got a kick out of it but was a little annoyed at the elf for hiding in a toy she liked to play with. I made sure Miss Twinkle hightailed it outta there just as soon as the kiddo went to bed that night. The next morning she woke up and found Twinkle in a new spot. We talked and laughed about the elf then she went straight to her drum.
"Mommy! I so happy to have my drum back," she said. "Look! While Twinkle was hiding in my drum she left me sparkles and now I can make sparkle cookies and they will be sooo good cause Twinkle left me the sparkles and I love sparkles and thank you Twinkle so much for your sparkle cookies. I. Love. Them."
And with that one run-on sentence I knew that I was not the only one who adored our little shelf elf.

"We going to the store to get you a birthday present! But, that is a secret. Love you mommy!!"
And with that my husband and three year old went out the door off to complete a top secret birthday mission. I was left with a precious few minutes alone at home. I sat down at my desk and decided to write this post.
*Achoo!!* Either a head cold or allergies have been plaguing me all day. I got up and grabbed the tissues. Back to writing.
*Bing* My phone goes off. A text from a friend saying she will stop by tomorrow with a gift for me. I have to respond, that is incredibly sweet of her. Ok, text sent, now to open my browser.
*Chirp chirp* Someone has re-Tweeted, favorited or @messaged me. Must check in with Twitter. As soon as I am done I will start my Fly On The Wall post....
*Bling!!* Oooh, I have Facebook notifications, I should check those real quick. Whoa, I have a ton of new fans on my blog's page. And comments. Someone must have shared me, wonder who it was? I'll just go through my pages feed to see if something comes up...
*Click click click* One of my favorite bloggers posted a new piece! Ooooooh!! It is about my favorite author. I should share that. Everyone should read this. And I have to leave her a message on her page. She has no idea how much her writing means to me and how influential that author has been to me as well.
*Clackety clackety clack* Ok. Done, now to start typing that post.....
*Bing!!* My phone. Again. Oh! The looked-up-to-blogger has replied to my message. Could she be any sweeter?
*Tick-tock* Damn! I really need to write this post. The hubs and kiddo will be home any minute...
*Bark bark!!* The dogs wake up.
*Jungle jingle* Keys in the door.
"HI MOMMY!!!"
I guess I will finish this later...

Fabulous.
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteWhat does a mom do when she has time to herself? Plays on social media, of course. Glad to know I'm not the only one.
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday!
Thanks Karen!!
DeleteThat is one smart little cookie you're raising there! To grasp the High/Low opposite idea at 3 years old? You must really have your hands full just answering all the questions :) And you nailed it on the social media distractions. Some days I wish I had one of those chairs with the hole in the seat so I didn't even have to get up and pee. (Not really. Just kidding....sheesh!)
ReplyDeleteI feel like her grasp on opposites are from me constantly saying to her, "No, that is the OPPOSITE of what I asked you to do...."
DeleteWhere can I get one of those chairs? I ask for a friend.......
Thanks for reading!
Happy Birthday!
ReplyDeleteI can SO relate to the social media thing. I always have ten tab open on my browser and several projects cranking at the same time. Being social is a lot of work. ;)
Three year old's run on sentences are an awesome part of little people that I miss terribly.
Thank you!! Being social IS a lot of work!!
DeleteIt seems as though everytime you "find time" to do something productive the Internet gets in the way :) I am the same way... I should be working, and then I decide I should come up with a new (insert stupid idea) and it takes the two hours I had to work and I still have a stupid idea... The joys of the Internet :)
ReplyDeleteI love/hate the internet. I am much more/less productive because of it. :)
DeleteThanks for reading!
Ah, the "trying-to-write-a-blog-post" story. I SO get that! I guess that's why I write my posts about midnight on the day before they're due.
ReplyDeleteYour daughter's comment on the sparkles makes me miss having a little girl.
Lo-def movies; that's what I'll be doing this weekend. Laaazzzy Buuuutt!
I love this comment. Love. It.
DeleteThank you for reading!!
